Celebrating Excellence: BuildX SW at the INCA Awards 2024

We’re excited to announce the successful handover of our recent project at Presbytery Mews in Plymouth! This project exemplifies BuildX SW’s commitment to tackling complex property challenges while prioritising resident comfort and satisfaction. Working closely with James Barron and Marley Risk Consultants Limited, our team addressed significant drainage and damp issues, transforming Presbytery Mews into a more resilient and comfortable living environment.

Presbytery Mews presented unique challenges due to its layout and previous drainage issues, which impacted both the building’s durability and resident experience. Under the skilled leadership of Project Manager Jack Corber, our team approached the project with a comprehensive plan, designed to not only solve these issues but to enhance the property for the long term.

The project encompassed several key improvements:

  • Ground Level Adjustments: To prevent future water ingress, our team lowered the ground levels around the building, creating a more controlled environment for water flow.
  • New Vented Trench with Retaining Wall: This installation plays a crucial role in directing water away from the building foundation, while the retaining wall supports ground stability.
  • French Drain and Metal Access Grilles: A French drain was added for optimal drainage, paired with metal access grilles for easy maintenance and enhanced ventilation.
  • Paving and Landscaping: To finish the project, we completed the associated paving and landscaping works, leaving the property looking clean, polished, and more accessible for residents.

One of our core strengths at BuildX is our ability to deliver impactful results in live environments. Throughout the project, we ensured minimal disruption to residents and neighbours, a priority we uphold to maintain positive relationships in every community we work in. Communication with residents and careful scheduling helped us complete the project smoothly, earning positive feedback from both residents and clients.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Jack Dickerson and the team at Waterworxz for their invaluable support throughout the process. This successful project at Presbytery Mews is a testament to what can be achieved through strong collaboration, skilled management, and a dedication to quality. As we celebrate this project’s completion, we look forward to many more opportunities to make a positive difference in the communities we serve.
