At BuildX, sustainability is central to how we operate, innovate, and grow. We recognise that our work in construction can supports the pillars of sustainability; the environment, the communities where we build, and the broader economy.
We actively support local communities and charitable initiatives, working with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to minimise disruption and create positive social impact.
Safe & Inclusive Workplace –We prioritise safe working conditions, fair employment practices, and inclusive opportunities for all staff. 100% workforce paid above real living wage. All staff receive H&S training and refreshers as standard.
Community Engagement – We actively support for local communities and charitable initiatives financially or through donated time and resource. We donated over £13,000.00 to local initiatives last year.
Working with stakeholders– We take a proactive approach to engaging with neighbours and businesses to reduce impact the impact of our works and leaving a positive and lasting benefit from what we do. 100% of our community projects have engagement and care strategies.
BuildX is committed to protecting the environment by reducing our carbon footprint, using sustainable materials, and implementing responsible practices across all our projects.
Reducing Carbon – We review our progress against our Net Zero Carbon Strategy and are committed to hitting Net Zero by 2040 – ahead of the Government Expectation.
Sustainable Materials – We prioritise sustainably sourced materials and maintain our ‘zero waste to landfill’ by embedding waste reduction, reuse, and recycling into business operations.
Our typical recycling rate on projects is 97%.
Ethical Supply Chain – We work with partners who share our commitment to working ethically and protecting the future.
BuildX supports the local economy by investing in local suppliers, creating job opportunities, and contributing to sustainable economic growth in the communities we serve and the construction industry as a whole.
Local investment – 54% of our turnover was invested back into local suppliers in 2025.

Support and upskilling staff – BuildX is committed to the continuing professional development upskilling and training of our staff. This includes comprehensive safety, technical, and site-specific training. Our teams undertook over 230 hours of CPD training last year. This is in addition to mentoring, and on the job training.
BuildX are proud members of Building Plymouth. Delivering BPART workshops, a lead delivery partner for Mission Mammoth, and chairing the 5Es group; we work collaboratively with industry partners to support the local economy, strengthen the construction sector, and create long-term value for communities.
